Online resources
https://twitter.com/ - If you have favourite
journalists, commentators or
website, follow them on
twitter. It
is a really fast way of scanning the financial news and
getting instant updates. Though I never post information to twitter.
www.thebull.com.au – A free and subscription site. I do not find the news section very
useful. However each Monday they publish a Tip Sheet (Buy,Hold,Sell)
from three analysts. Occasionally I find a tip useful and put it on
my watchlist. The tips do require more in depth research!
www.etfwatch.com.au/data-analysis – A free site providing factual* information regarding EFT’s and
LIC’s. A quick way to find basic information on specific products.
* = Double check the facts because too often the facts are not
correct.
http://www.yieldreport.com.au/ A free site providing factual information Notes, Bond, Hybrids,
Convertibles. No known issues, but not a field I have researched
adequately.
https://hotcopper.com.au/- A free site. It is very active site frequented by price
manipulators, rogues, spivs, rumourtargists et al. Gamblers will
love this site, because too many of the active participants are
trying manipulate the share price of a stock they just bought or want
to buy, Caveat Emptor. But if you want to know about the latest news,
rumour or gossip, this is the site.
http://www.fool.com.au/- Free and paid subscriptions. A very active stock “recommendation”
site. It has quite a few dissatisfied “ex paid” users who did not
find the pot of gold. Most of the “recommendations” are not
recommendations when you look at the wording carefully. Howvwer if a
stock is a winner, the alude to their past recommendation. I use a
high level of scepticism with this site.
However, they
occasionally bring to my attention a stock worth adding to my
watchlist
http://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/A measure of the emotion which is currently driving the stock market.
Worth looking at occasionally, particularly when there is a lot of
“noise” coming from the market.
http://www.shortman.com.au/ A site all about shorting and definitely worth checking as part of
due diligence before buying stock.
http://dividends.com.au/ A site with lots of infromation about historical and upcoming
dividend information. Very useful at tax time.
https://www.rivkin.com.au/ I don’t use the broker but they publish some excellent educational
webinars. The site only lists current webinars but if you search the
internet are are a few others. Their series on how to do fundamental
analysis was very good.
http://www.asx.com.au/prices/asx-research-scheme.htm Finding research about small stocks is very difficult. Some of the
few that are done are published here.
http://www.asx.com.au/asx/statistics/announcements.do All stocks have to advise the ASX of any change to market sensitive
information immediately. I use this site for the latest news before
buying and selling.
